Letter from Pastor Scott

The year 2020 has been a challenging season not only for God’s church, but also for our nation and our world. Some might ask, “Where is the Lord in all of this?”  The truth is, He is on His Throne, and still fully in control! In fact, Jesus told us in Matthew 24 that these types of events would take place, signaling that His return is near. Nothing takes God by surprise, and He continues to move by His Spirit today! In spite of the difficulties resulting from a global pandemic, we can be encouraged by the promise that Jesus made to Peter in Matthew 16:18; “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” We also hold fast to His promises to provide all of our needs (Philippians 4:19) and to direct our path (Proverbs 3:6). As we work to fulfill the Great Commission Jesus gave in Matthew 28:19 to “Go into all the world and make disciples”, we can have confidence that the Lord will equip us to do the work, and guide us along the way!

Kari and I are honored to lead this wonderful congregation of Burnaby Christian Pentecostal Church, and we are excited for the future that God has in store for His people! As we move into 2021 and work together to share the life and love which can only be found in Jesus Christ, let’s pray and believe for Him to use us in powerful ways to impact our world!

In His Service,

Pastor Scott Peterson
